The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) on Friday reported eight outbreaks of bird flu (H5N1) in India. Citing Indian officials, the organization said these outbreaks have occurred in the eastern Andhra Pradesh region. More than 6 lakh chickens have died due to these outbreaks.
Bird Flu Outbreak in Andhra Pradesh
The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) in its report said that the epidemic spread among poultry at various poultry farms in Andhra Pradesh.
The bird flu virus H5N1 is highly contagious and lethal, posing a serious threat to chickens. These outbreaks resulted in the death of millions of chickens and also affected local agriculture.
