Bird flu outbreak in India, panic created due to spread of H5N1 virus in 8 poultry farms in Andhra Pradesh

The World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) on Friday reported eight outbreaks of bird flu (H5N1) in India. Citing Indian officials, the organization said these outbreaks have occurred in the eastern Andhra Pradesh region. More than 6 lakh chickens have died due to these outbreaks.

The bird flu virus H5N1 is highly contagious and lethal, posing a serious threat to chickens. These outbreaks resulted in the death of millions of chickens and also affected local agriculture.
