India, 2025 — In a progressive move towards strengthening digital governance and smart public administration, Bhimsi Foundation has launched the Digital Door Number Plate Project, which aims to digitally identify and map every home and commercial property across India.
BHIMSI Foundation introduces an ambitious Digital Door Number Plate Project to strengthen India’s civic infrastructure. Each digital plate will store essential house-level information, accessible through a simple scan. Authorities can now manage public services, emergency support, and developmental programs with greater precision. The initiative targets both rural and urban regions, promoting uniform governance standards. As part of Digital India, the project promises transparency, accountability, and smoother communication between citizens and government bodies.
The initiative introduces GPS-enabled, QR-coded digital number plates for houses, shops, business establishments, institutions and hotels. This system is designed to create a centralized and accurate database to support government administration and public services.
According to project officials, the Digital Door Number Plate Project will help Urban Local Bodies, Municipalities and Gram Panchayats improve property verification, revenue management, civic planning, disaster management and door-to-door delivery of welfare schemes.
